YFS provides EPSDT outpatient mental health services for children and young adults 0-21 years of age. The funding source for this benefit is Medi-Cal. This benefit provides the clinician with the authority to facilitate assessments, provide therapy (individual and family), conduct case management, and to provide collateral services. In addition, youth who have co-occuring disorders (dual diagnoses) can be assessed, screened, and treated for their emotional issues and substance abuse. Emphasis is placed on understanding the “whole” client (i.e., intra-psychically, interpersonally, and socio-culturally).

The work of the clinical staff is informed by principles of psychodynamic, family systems, narrative, and cognitive-behavioral theory, as well as chemical dependence treatment models. Comprehensive psychological and developmental assessment is available when indicated.

YFS serves primarily an ethnically diverse, low-income, and high-risk population. Our clinics are located in Fairfield and Vallejo but we also provide home-based services throughout the county. These services allow children/youth who are emotionally compromised to reside in their own homes or community and attend school with the potential for a reduction or amelioration of high-risk behaviors.
